Dear Collector,

we are very happy that you have chosen a pigment print by Matteo Basilé for your collection. With the work we send you the signed sticker, which you can either affix to the back of the work or keep with your papers. As we want you to enjoy your acquisition over time, please take note of the following.

The photographs, printed with pigments on Hahnemühle fine art cotton paper, are made to last a lifetime using the newest and most durable photographic and acrylic materials. Before it reaches your home, every photograph is carefully checked and packed under the supervision of the printer and the artist, and it is insured until it arrives.

Please read carefully

Every work on paper, drawing, watercolour and photograph alike, hates direct sun: if you hang the work where direct sunlight touches its surface, it will slowly lose brilliance and colour. Every work on paper also hates heat, so do not hang it near radiators or other sources of heat or hot air. Before you hang or take down a work, place soft bubble wrap or a cushion on the floor to prevent damage to corners and edges. Follow these few rules and you should be able to enjoy your photograph in the best condition for more than a lifetime.

Our guarantee nonetheless makes your acquisition safer than that of any other work of art. Should your work be irreparably damaged through your fault, the fault of third parties or natural causes, we will replace it with a new print: your only cost is production and shipment from the laboratory to your home.

What we need is certain proof of the destruction of the original print (a photograph accompanied by a small piece of the centre of the picture) or the return of the entire damaged print, whichever is more convenient for you. We therefore suggest keeping the sticker with your papers, so that you do not have to remove it from the damaged work.

Guarantee

• The guarantee applies to works sold by Matteo Basilé, by the studio or by authorised galleries, accompanied by the signed sticker or the certificate and registered in the archive.
• It applies to the first buyer and to whoever registers the change of ownership in the archive; it does not cover damage that occurred before registration.
• A work can be replaced only once: the new print keeps the same edition number and the previous certificate is revoked.

Certificates of authenticity

• Certificates are issued at the archive’s discretion, after examining the work and its documents. We may ask to see the work in person, with shipping and insurance at the owner’s expense.
• The examination is free for works bought from Matteo Basilé, the studio or authorised galleries in the last 5 years, with an invoice or receipt.
• In all other cases (purchases more than 5 years ago, auctions, private sales, works without documents) the examination requires a fee of €200 including VAT, invoiced by ArtistProof S.r.l. Payment is requested after a first review of the request and is not refundable if no certificate is issued.
